How to use Screen ruler

Calibrate against a known length and use your screen as an approximate ruler.

  1. Use a physical ruler or an object of known width. Enter that actual width in millimeters.
  2. Adjust the reference rectangle until both outside edges match the object. Confirm the alignment to display the ruler.
  3. Choose mm, cm or inches and a horizontal or vertical ruler. Place the object at the 0 mark to measure.
  4. Calibration applies only to this monitor and zoom level, and is not saved. Recalibrate after moving the window to another monitor—even if no warning appears. Use a physical ruler when precision matters.
